This past weeekend, we lost a common fixture from the sitcom circuuit of the 1970's and 1980's. Actress, singer and comedienne Bea Arthur passed away at the age of 86, on April 25, 2009. Whether starring as the ultra-liberal, outspoken, feminist Maude Findlay in the 1970's sitcom Maude or as the sardonic wry divorcee Dorothy Zbornak in the 1980's sitcom Golden Girls, Bea Arthur connected with her audience and delivered a fresh comedic style at every turn. In both roles, her character ws the one with the quick wit, the sharp response to derisive remarks or the best thought out approach to the episode's problem. Although she had not been on screen in the last years of her life, she was still a favorite of many and she will be missed.
